Ahoy!  Buckeye Outdoors Show Coming

TRITON Day…

HEBRON, Ohio - The spring fishing season won't heat up for a few weeks, but for bass anglers and boaters with the winter doldrums the next best thing is the upcoming Buckeye Outdoors Marine, Boat and Fishing Show.

Besides wall-to-wall displays for the newest in bass fishing hulls, tackle and hunting supplies, visitors to the 150,000 square-foot superstore, Feb 27 - March 1, have the opportunity to meet and greet two of the legendary names in the modern sport of bass fishing.

Ray Scott, the founder of the Bass Anglers Sportsman Society (B.A.S.S.), and Earl Bentz, president and designer of TRITON Boats, will be on hand during the last two days of the show at Buckeye Outdoors and Marine, located at 150 Arrowhead Drive.

"We're inviting bass boat shoppers to come by and take the opportunity to go one-on-one with Earl Bentz, the man behind the high-performance bass boat, and Ray Scott, the man that changed bass fishing from a recreation into a big-time sport," said Maurice Potvin of Buckeye Outdoors, a TRITON dealership.

With Bentz, a former world champion boat racer, TRITON, manufactured in Ashland City, TN, has gained the reputation as a "new breed of bass boat."

"Performance is the key," says Maurice Potvin. "Triton's Vortex hull offers an incredibly smooth, dry ride. And, it's built entirely wood-free with 100 percent composite construction."

Potvin says the "flagship" of the TRITON fleet at this year's show is the limited edition Triton Citgo BASS Masters Classic special, the same package the pros are equipped with in the world championship of bass fishing.

"The bass boat of a lifetime" is how Earl Bentz views it. From the stylish, "official" Classic emblems, to the high-performance jackplate, to space-age driver's console and the custom-matching boat trailer. The Classic package is available in TRITON models 19 to 22 feet.

"The Triton Classic edition captures all the excitement and prestige of the world's premier fishing event, the BASS Masters Classic," opines Maurice Potvin, "and at a surprisingly affordable price. Come to our dealership and see for yourself and talk bass boating with Earl Bentz and Ray Scott."

Not content to stand pat, Triton has introduced a lineup of aluminum bass boats with all the standard features found on the high-end fiberglass tournament rigs. The Triton 186 Magnum hull is rated for 150 horsepower, boasts an 85-inch beam and 18-feet, 6-inches in length. All welded, .100-guage construction, wood-free with no materials that rot or leaks.

"The 186 Magnum is tournament-ready and performance proven for big waters," says Earl Bentz. He tells interested boaters, "You'll find a smooth, dry ride in rough water, without the slapping and pounding typical of many aluminum hulls."

Scott, in 1967, launched the bass tournament craze with his All-American Invitational Tournament at Beaver Lake in northwest Arkansas. He built the Bass Anglers Sportsman Society into a worldwide organization with over 650,000 members and created the BASS Masters Classic to showcase the sport's best professional fishermen.

"The Bassmaster Tournament Trail has been the proving grounds for today's bass boat innovations in performance and boating safety," says Scott. "Just as the Indy 500 improved the automobile for drivers."

Scott left B.A.S.S., Inc. in 1998 to form his marketing and consulting group, Ray Scott Outdoors, Inc., for the fishing tackle and marine industries.

Besides TRITON Boats, Scott serves as national promotional spokesman for Mercury Outboards, MotorGuide Trolling Motors, SOSPENDERS by S.O.S., Inc. the inflatable life vest; and U. S. Reel of St. Louis, MO., a new, revolutionary spinning reel with an oversize spool for light-line fishing.

In a short span of only seven years, the Potvins have grown the Buckeye business into the largest independently owned fishing, hunting and boat retailer in Ohio. Expanding last August from the startup 8,000 square-foot store to the impressive 150,000 square-foot operation, Buckeye Outdoors and Marine is the largest Triton Aluminum dealer in the state of Ohio.
